Kazakh-born pianist SAMSON TSOY has been described as "the most promising" (BBC Music Magazine) and his recent appearance at Wigmore Hall got a 5 stars review at the Arts Desk. In 2012, he has been named Laureate of the Santander International Piano Competition Paloma O'Shea and attracted attention of legendary pianist Elisabeth Leonskaja. A year later, he won the “Societa Umanitaria” International Music Competition in Milan. He also has been a finalist of the “Vendome Prize” at the Verbier Festival. In December 2015, Tsoy won 1st Prize at the 9th Campillos International Piano Competition (Malaga, Spain).
Tsoy has been recognized for his talent by the Hattori and Msitslav Rostropovich Foundations, London Philharmonia Orchestra Martin Musical Scholarship Fund, Worshipful Company of Musicians, received National President's Order "Young Talent of Russia". Significant recital and festival appearances include London’s Wigmore, Royal Albert and Royal Festival Halls, Konzerthaus in Berlin, Salle Gaveau in Paris, Auditorium di Milano and Sala Verdi, Verbier Festival, Santander Festival, Canada’s Honens and Banff Festivals, Italy's Casalmaggiore and Russia's Rostropovich Jubilee Festivals. Recent orchestral appearances include Russia’s National Orchestra, Kuban Symphony Orchestra and Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra.
Samson graduated from the Moscow Conservatory and Royal College of Music in London. He has been studying with and mentoring by Yuri Airapetian, Dmitry Bashkirov, Imogen Cooper, Sergei Dorensky, Norma Fisher, Vanessa Latarche, Elisabeth Leonskaja and Maria Joao Pires. Since 2014, Tsoy is an Artist at the London’s City Music Foundation.
